Despite this Taplow loves crocker.
Taplow mimics Crocker's throaty voice while telling Frank what Crocker told him about his promotion. Frank admonishes him for mimicking the teacher. But he actually enjoys it. He asks Taplow to repeat it. Taplow also tells Frank of an incident. Crocker told a joke to the class of no one laughed because no one, but could understand it. Taplow had laughed just to please Crocker. But Crocker was not amused. He asked Taplow to explain the joke to the class.
Taplow tells Frank that he does not remember the joke now. But Frank wants to enjoy the fun. Hee insists that Taplow must repeat Crocker's joke to him. While he asking Taplow to do so, Mrs. Millie Crocker Harris arrives there. Probably she has heard the last piece of conversation between them. Frank is a little embarrassed. Taplow is afraid that she might tell this to her husband and he would not give him a promotion to the next class. Mrs. Crocker tells Taplow that her husband is busy. She asks him to run an errand for her and the play comes to an end.
